The Audi BVJ is a 4.2L naturally aspirated V8 gasoline engine from the Volkswagen-Audi Group’s EA824 series (actual displacement: 4,163 cc; commonly referred to as the 4.2 FSI). It was produced from 2006 through approximately 2010/2011.
It belongs to Audi’s all-aluminum V-series engine family (a differently tuned variant of the same series as the BAR) and features a 90° V8 configuration, direct injection (FSI), dual overhead camshafts (DOHC) with 32 valves, and fully variable intake and exhaust valve timing. The BVJ is a comfort-oriented version designed for sedans and station wagons; its power output is essentially identical to that of the BAR (primarily used in the Q7 and Touareg) and was mainly installed in the Audi A6 C6 and A8 D3.
