The 2GR-FE is a 3.5L naturally aspirated V6 gasoline engine in Toyota’s GR series. It was introduced in 2004/2005 to replace older V6 engines such as the previous-generation 1MZ-FE.
It features an aluminum alloy block and cylinder head, a 60° V-configuration, a DOHC 24-valve design, and is equipped with Dual VVT-i (Dual Variable Valve Timing for both intake and exhaust).
“Old model” refers to the early multipoint fuel injection (MPI / port injection) versions, as opposed to later models such as the 2GR-FKS and 2GR-FSE, which feature direct injection. This engine is renowned for its smooth power delivery, low noise, and high reliability, and is widely used in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive sedans, SUVs, and MPVs.
