The M264 is a family of inline-four turbocharged gasoline engines introduced by Mercedes-Benz in late 2017 to fully replace the previous generation of the well-known M274 engines.
Technical Evolution (M264.820 2.0T + BSG 48V): The M264.820 is the core model in the M264 family, featuring a 2.0-liter displacement (2.0T). Its major upgrades include the introduction of a 48V mild-hybrid system
(MHEV, featuring a belt-driven BSG starter-generator), combined with a twin-scroll turbocharger, CAMTRONIC variable valve lift control technology, NANOSLIDE® cylinder wall coating, and a particulate filter (GPF).
This engine addresses the early issues of camshaft timing gear wear and piston ring failure found in the M274, significantly improving low-speed torque response and fuel economy. It is primarily used in models
such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class (W205 LCI facelift), E-Class (W213 LCI facelift), CLS-Class, and GLC-Class.
