The OM642 is part of Mercedes-Benz’s iconic family of 3.0-liter V6 diesel engines with a 72° angle between cylinders. It was first introduced in 2005 to fully replace the earlier OM647 (inline-five) and OM648 (inline-six) diesel engines.
