The G4LC is a 1.4-liter inline-four naturally aspirated gasoline engine from the Hyundai-Kia Group’s Kappa series.
The engine was officially launched in 2014 and first debuted in the second-generation Hyundai i20; it has since been widely used in Hyundai and Kia compact models. It features an all-aluminum block and cylinder head, a timing chain drive, Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (Dual CVVT), and Variable Intake Manifold (VIS) technology, and is equipped with hydraulic tappets. Compared to the previous-generation Gamma series engines, the G4LC offers improvements in fuel economy, emissions, and reliability, and meets Euro 5 and Euro 6 standards.
