The G4ED is a 1.6-liter inline-four naturally aspirated gasoline engine from the Hyundai-Kia Group’s Alpha II series.
This engine was first installed in the 2000 Hyundai Elantra XD and remained in production until approximately 2012. It features a cast-iron block with an aluminum alloy cylinder head, a DOHC 16-valve design, and multipoint fuel injection (MPI); later versions (beginning around 2005) added an intake-side CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) system.
The G4ED is known for its simple design, low maintenance costs, and good reliability.
