The BMW N20B20 is a 2.0L inline-four turbocharged gasoline engine (featuring TwinPower Turbo technology) introduced by the BMW Group in 2011, primarily to replace the previous naturally aspirated six-cylinder engines (N52/N53 series).
2WD (two-wheel drive) features: The N20 engine is available in two versions: 2WD (rear-wheel drive/RWD, such as sDrive) and 4WD (all-wheel drive, xDrive). The key differences between the 2WD and 4WD “long blocks” lie in the oil pan design and pump housing interface (the oil pan on the 4WD version passes through the front half-shaft). The 2WD long block offers better compatibility and smoother installation on rear-wheel-drive platforms.
