The N55B30 is a 3.0L inline-six single-turbocharged gasoline engine produced by BMW from 2009 to 2018/2019. It features TwinPower Turbo technology (single Twin-Scroll turbocharger) and replaced the previous-generation twin-turbo N54. It is more reliable and more fuel-efficient than the N54, while retaining excellent low-end torque and responsiveness.
“New” typically refers to later, improved versions, such as the N55B30O0 (approx. 320–326 PS) and N55B30T0 (approx. 355–370 PS, used in the M2, X4, M40i, etc.), which feature upgrades to the crankshaft, turbo control, cooling system, and internal components compared to the earlier N55B30M0 (306 PS).
