What is engine assembly?The HR16DE is a 1.6L inline-four naturally aspirated engine from Nissan’s HR series (developed in collaboration with Renault; Renault’s code name is H4M).
It was introduced around 2005–2006 to replace earlier small-displacement engines such as the QG16. It features an all-aluminum block and an aluminum DOHC 16-valve cylinder head,
with chain-driven timing and C-VTC (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) on the intake side. The term “older models” primarily refers to early production batches
from around 2005–2012; later versions included upgrades to valve timing and control systems.
