What is engine assembly?The N46B20 cylinder head is used in BMW’s N46 series 2.0L inline-four naturally aspirated gasoline engines and was produced from 2004 to approximately 2012 (primarily at the Hams Hall plant).
The N46 is an upgraded version of its predecessor, the N42. It features an aluminum alloy block and cylinder head, and is equipped with the Valvetronic variable valve lift system,
Double-VANOS dual variable valve timing, and hydraulic tappets. The cylinder head design builds on the N42’s foundation but incorporates optimizations to the valve train,
cylinder head cover, and timing system. This engine is renowned for its smooth operation and fuel efficiency.
