What is engine assembly?The HR16DE is a 1.6L inline-four naturally aspirated engine from Nissan’s HR series (developed in collaboration with Renault; Renault code name: H4M). Major improvements to
the new version (which underwent gradual upgrades starting around 2010–2012 and was further optimized after 2017) include: the addition of dual C-VTC (variable valve timing
for both intake and exhaust), the adoption of a dual-injection system in some versions, and optimizations to the intake and exhaust systems as well as emissions control.
Compared to the older model, which featured variable valve timing on the intake side only, the new model offers significant improvements in power response, fuel economy,
and emissions, and is widely used in compact vehicles worldwide.
