The N20B20 is a 2.0L inline-four turbocharged gasoline engine from BMW’s N20 series.
Manufactured at the Hams Hall plant in the United Kingdom, this engine is designed to replace the naturally aspirated inline-six N52/N53 series, delivering comparable power with
a smaller displacement while improving fuel economy. It features an aluminum alloy cylinder block with an arc-sprayed steel coating (or reinforced with cast-iron cylinder liners) and
is equipped with Valvetronic III variable valve lift, Double-VANOS variable valve timing, a TwinScroll turbocharger, and a direct injection (TVDI) system.
Cylinder Block Material and Advanced Manufacturing Processes
Material: High-strength, lightweight aluminum-silicon alloy (Alusil / High-strength Aluminum Alloy). One-piece die-cast construction (Open-Deck / closed-loop reinforcement design,
in accordance with BMW’s lightweight engine casting standards). This design balances extreme weight reduction in the engine compartment with exceptional structural torsional rigidity.
Inner Wall Treatment: Cylinder walls treated using BMW’s advanced arc spraying or precision honing processes feature an ultra-low coefficient of friction and exceptional resistance to wear and
high temperatures, ensuring an exceptionally long service life for modern, highly turbocharged, high-output engines under severe operating conditions.
Our products are exported to various parts of the country, and the customers we have worked with have received unanimous praise. The company has invested over 20 million yuan in high-end remanufacturing equipment imported from abroad and a first-class production team in the country. Our warehouse has a total area of over 8000 square meters, with scientific management and sufficient supply of goods.
