The B38A15 is a 1.5L inline-three-cylinder turbocharged engine introduced by BMW in 2013/2014 (designated B38A15A for transverse platforms and B38B15A for longitudinal platforms).
It is a foundational member of BMW’s modular engine family (B38 three-cylinder, B48 four-cylinder, B58 six-cylinder), with a uniform single-cylinder displacement of 0.5L.

(Wire Arc Sprayed Coating), with a film thickness of only about 0.3 mm. This design not only reduces internal friction losses but also significantly lowers weight and improves thermal conductivity.
